Carbon Trust label adopted by Tesco

packagingnews.co.uk: "Tesco is giving its full support to the Carbon Trust's carbon label by introducing it on the packs of 20 of its products from 6 May, after Packaging News went to press.

The carbon label, developed by the Carbon Trust, was scheduled to appear on products in four categories – laundry detergent, orange juice, potatoes and light bulbs.

It will carry the total grammage of carbon dioxide, or equivalent greenhouse gas, emitted throughout the lifecycle of each product. The calculation also includes the impact of preparing or using a product and disposing of it."
