TCIL (India) increased tinplate production in October-December

Factiva: "The Tinplate Company of India (TCIL), according to its financial report, increased production of tinplate by 6% in three months ended December 31, compared with the previous quarter, from 45,200 to 48,000t, but decreased production of CR coils 11% - to 42,000t. 

In nine months ended December 31, 2008, the output of CR steel reached 136,000t, down 1% from 137,400t in the same months of 2007. Tinplate production in the 9 months, however, rose 7% y-o-y, to 134,000t.

The company's net profit in the quarter was reported at some $518,000t, up about 3.75 times from the quarter ended September 31 (about $138,200). In the three quarters (April through December), the company's net profit rose nearly 16.5 times, from about $160,000 to $2.64m, and nearly 3.3 times compared with the entire fiscal year 2007-08 (ended March 31, 2008) – about $806,000tpy."
