Reusacan energy saving

Energy calculation

This graph illustrates what and how much energy is required to manufacture a tonne of tinplate from virgin materials and recycled materials to make steel cans.

It also shows the comparison between using recycled materials and refurbishing cans with Reusa-Cans system. According to DTI (now BERR) energy usage figures for an average UK home uses 4,100kWH of energy per annum. To make a tonne of iron from virgin materials to ingot stage requires 5,800kWH but total energy for one tonne of tinplate it is over 8,000kWH.
