Emerging markets put pressure on Western tinplate exports
Factiva: "As emerging markets develop tinplate production and become more self-sufficient, Western producers will find it increasingly difficult to export their material, metals packaging consultant Phillip Rogers said at MB's 9th International Tinplate Conference. 'Don't imagine in western Europe that you'll be able to export tinplate any more. [The emerging markets] are growing their own… Traditional exporters will find it more difficult and competitive and less rewarding to export,' Rogers told delegates. In contrast to production cuts that are taking place across western Europe, the Bric countries, Africa and Asia will be driving global tinplate growth."
