Tinplate Company Of India appoints chairman

Factiva: "Tinplate Co of India (TINPLATE) has appointed Mr. Koushik Chatterjee as its Chairman."

Tinplate Co of India's MD, Mr. Bushen Raina, has retired w.e.f. June 16, 2009. Company has appointed Executive Director, Mr. Tarun Daga, as its MD w.e.f. June 17, 2009.



Calcutta Telegraph: Koushik Chatterjee, chief financial officer of the Tata Steel group, has been appointed the chairman of Tinplate Company India Ltd.

Chatterjee, who is already on the company’s board, will replace former Tata Steel managing director B. Muthuraman. The company announced the board rejig yesterday. Muthuraman, who became the vice-chairman of Tata Steel after completing his term as the managing director, has stepped down from the Tinplate board.

Chatterjee, one of the youngest senior executives within the Tata group, shot to limelight after playing a key role in the acquisition of Corus in 2008. He was also instrumental in the financial restructuring of Tinplate and putting it back on the growth track.

The company has posted a marginal rise in topline at Rs 196.94 crore in the third quarter against Rs 180.81 crore a year ago. However, profit rose sharply to Rs 22.25 crore from Rs 2.54 crore a year ago.
