JFE Steel Corporation plans to expand export sales of can plates such as tinplate and material blackplate. Global demands for tinplate are expected to grow steadily as emerging countries expand their economy. JFE Steel will develop new customers and increase supply of material plates to the overseas alliance network, its strong point. Until now, JFE Steel has a limited excess in supply of can plates since they require high quality. It will have room to expand the sales because it will start operation of the fifth continuous annealing line (CAL, monthly production of about 40 thousand tons) ahead of schedule in this December, which is under construction at the Fukuyama area in the West Japan Works."
